THE SPACE
The Sanctuary is a beautiful, luxurious, very private Bed & Breakfast housed in an old church (built in 1891) in Attica, IN. The B&B is designed to provide privacy for retreat & restoration of the soul. The Mediterranean Suite - a luxury bed & bath suite designed with a mixture of old world & modern styles, and featuring a spa bath, is the focal point of The Sanctuary. This suite, featuring a queen size bed and two single beds (in the loft above the bathroom within the suite), will accommodate one couple or 1-3 singles. When you stay at The Sanctuary, you also have to yourself the very large "sanctuary" space with multiple sitting areas, a grand piano, and a bumper pool table. The latest addition to The Sanctuary is a hot tub located under a gazebo on a second outdoor patio.

There is something about The Sanctuary that calms the mind and soothes the soul. Maybe it's the simple stained glass windows and high arched ceilings, or the sun streaming through the windows painting colors on the walls, or watching the candles dance in the open space at night. Maybe it's sitting outside on one of the patios to read and meditate or enjoying the hot tub. Maybe it's hanging out in the Conversation Circle and sharing stories with new friends. Or maybe it's just the opportunity to sit in sacred space and breathe. Whatever it is, The Sanctuary is a place where your soul will be restored.

Th Creative Loft sits at the top of The Sanctuary, accessible by a spiral staircase. It is a small and simple space with a comfortable chair for reading, a small writing desk for writers, and a keyboard and cajon (available by request) that can used to create musical compositions. ABOUT
This all started with one of Paula's bucket list items - Riding a Harley through New England during the fall colors for her 50th birthday. During that trip the dream was born of owning an old church. We just happened to find our old church in Attica, IN, the original Christian Church built in 1891. We purchased it in May of 2007.

Our vision was to create a space where we could host house concerts & dinners and eventually create a unique bed & breakfast where people would come for rest, retreat, and restoration. We began calling our church/home “The Sanctuary: Where Souls are Restored”.

Since May of 2007 we have created a kitchen/great room for entertaining, replaced the roof, restored the stain-glassed windows (outside), tuck-pointed and sealed the foundation, created two patios for outdoor entertaining and a Hot Tub, installed a new HVAC system, and created a luxury bed & bath suite. (We have truly been blessed to find amazing craftsman & artisans who have done all this work!)
This unique space we call The Sanctuary has provided us the opportunity to host concerts, dinners & retreats, numerous community events, weddings, and 100s of guests. While everyone is invited to stay at The Sanctuary, our primary purpose is to provide a place where those who are giving their lives creating shalom with the marginalized people of this world and those who live in the hard places of this world can escape and find rest and peace for their minds, bodies, and souls. We also have a special place in our hearts for the creatives of this world. So The Sanctuary is also designed as a place where writers, musicians, and artists will find the stillness and space needed to free their minds to create.
